Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about the GIS Map Portal

What is the GIS Map Portal used for?

The GIS Map Portal is a comprehensive geospatial platform for managing and visualizing petroleum assets, infrastructure, and operational data. It provides real-time access to well locations, pipeline networks, facility information, and environmental data across the concession area. Users can visualize data in both 2D and 3D formats, access operational dashboards, and generate reports.

How do I navigate the 2D and 3D maps?

2D Map: Use your mouse scroll wheel to zoom in/out, click and drag to pan across the map. The toolbar on the left provides additional controls for measuring distances, printing maps, and managing layer visibility.

3D Map: Scroll to zoom, right-click and drag to rotate the view, middle-click to adjust the tilt angle. Use the toolbar buttons for quick navigation to preset views and rotation controls. The 3D view includes terrain elevation for better visualization of topography.

What data layers are available?

The portal includes multiple data layers: Production Wells, Injection Wells, Pipeline Networks, Processing Facilities, Storage Tanks, Access Roads, Seismic Survey Lines, Concession Boundaries, Environmental Sensitive Areas, and Satellite Imagery. Layer visibility can be toggled using the Layers button in the map toolbar.

How can I export or print maps?

Click the Print button (printer icon) in the 2D map toolbar to access print options. You can select paper size (A4, A3, A2), orientation (Portrait/Landscape), and output format (PDF, PNG, JPG). The exported map will include the current view extent, legend, scale bar, and north arrow. For high-resolution exports suitable for large format printing, please contact the GIS team.

How do I measure distances and areas?

Click the Measure button (ruler icon) in the 2D map toolbar. Select either Distance or Area measurement mode. Click on the map to place measurement points, and double-click to complete the measurement. Results are displayed in both metric (meters/kilometers, square meters/hectares) and imperial units. Measurements can be saved to your session for reference.

Who can I contact for technical support?

For technical support, please contact the GIS Support Team:

What browsers are supported?

The GIS Map Portal supports all modern browsers including Google Chrome (recommended), Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari. For optimal performance, especially with 3D visualization, we recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome with hardware acceleration enabled. Internet Explorer is not supported.

How often is the data updated?

Data update frequency varies by layer type. Well status and production data are updated every 6 hours. Pipeline integrity data is updated daily. Facility information is updated in real-time from the SCADA system. Base map layers and satellite imagery are updated quarterly. For specific data currency questions, please refer to the metadata available in each layer's properties panel.
